Sales was horrible today. I guess we can all say that sales really do depend alot on luck. When you clinched a sale right on the spot, you'll usually get afew others lining up behind waiting to buy from u as well. Just a matter of time before you bump into such generous consumers. But on a down market day, we'd go as low as zero sales though i've never gotten such bad sales before. Thank goodness.
For the whole week, statistic's been like a bell curve, with wednesday and thurday being the days where i sold the most. Yesterday worked out well for me, after i cleared the booth to end the day, someone actually went to buy another 2 big boxes of the Redoxon i'm selling, 'vita immune'. I have to say that the taste's not bad and most of the children actually loved it upon drinking it. Plus, some even gave me feedbacks that Redoxon's a really trustable brand to them as their vitamins do work...which makes my promoting for this product all the more meaningful.
So right here and then, i'm actually promoting the quality to people, explaining the steep price of this product. However, it's also due to this fact that makes selling 'Redoxons vita immune' tough at the same time. Comparing 'Redoxons' to 'Centrum' which is one of it's rival brand since Centrum's pretty established and is also selling multi vitamins as well, i'd say that the promotion Centrum has to offer will definately attract me, as a customer even more. By dividing the amount of money i actually spend on 'Redoxons' as compared to 'Centrum', it'd be actually safe to say that the latter is more economical. Then again, as Centrums only come in softgels and pill forms, it gives Redoxons a slight edge over it if we were to ask for the opinions of younger consumers before purchasing a certain product. I mean, which would you prefer? Something that tastes like orange juice, or swallowing a large tablet?
Most of the customers that i approached today gave me the same reply which i'm slowly growing tired of as well as getting immune to hearing.
"Sorry, i'm not interested.", "Sorry i don't take vitamins.", or being plain ignored is becoming a situation for me to face daily. No wonder promoters are better off being thick-skinned. But the rate's especially high today, i wonder why. While some consumers who actually showed slight interest in what i have to promote to them actually turned down the offer eventually because of it's price. Well no kidding, that's 30 tablets for $19.50. Plus, who can blame them? With the on going bad economy straint that the world is going through now, it's no wonder people would rather go for those 'cheap-and-good' stuff. But whether or not they have the effect, that i can guarantee them with if they buy Redoxons, will be a risk they have to take for cheaper goods.
Then again, there are really rude customers that do piss me off during these few days of work. Like when these 2 middle aged ladies walked in, i was trying (as usual) to promote my product to them. One lady showed slight interest after hearing what i've got to say in my well recited and dead-memorised speech, asking abt the price. But it's as if ignoring me and giving me a dirty look is not enough, the other lady who chose to turn my words into deaf ear actually interrupted my 'speech' and told her friend "let's go". With that, i lost a potential customer. Would it be asking too much if they spent afew more seconds for me to at least finish my sentence? Well, that's that....manners are lacking in these ill-mannered creatures. I hope they wake up their mindset soon. If this isn't part of my job, i wouldn't have let myself live down with that sort of humiliation. NEVER!
Other than that, i've actually found out that humans love crowds as well. When promoting to one person, passerbys who see will eventually crowd around to pick up on how much they can catch with the remainding of my speech to my customer, and that could be why my sales actually picked up a little yesterday during the evening. On the other hand, when there's not a single soul loitering around the booth, i think i'd be much better off catching flies (if there are any) around the shopping centre.
Promoter's a great job in the short term, it's good money and reasonable working hours, but for us to work this way in the long term will eventually turn this job into a chore. 'Cause as the popular saying goes among us, "when there are sales and customers, time flies past and the day will be great" but when there are no customers and much less any sales, that's where you start to worry about how u're gunna explain the situation when u have to deal with the office later. What's worse, it's even harder to pass time by staring at the watch, hopelessly waiting for the clock to strike 8pm immediately. It's no surprise to say that the more you're hoping for time to pass, the more you'd live a minute like an hour, and an hour like a year.
